Sleeping Beauty

The title is no reference to any cub! 

But the Christmas Panto that we saw at the Gordon Craig Theatre; and what a performance it was. 

With a fantastic cast, pyrotechnics and the cubs helping out on stage singing 'Old McDonald' it was a fantastic evening and one to be repeated. 

All the cubs were so well behaved and it was a real pleasure taking them to see the production. 

The leader team would like to wish all our cubs and their families a very Happy New Year and we look forward to seeing you all at the start of term in the hall.

Cubs Christmas Carols

In our traditional manner, we finished this term off with our Carol service, and I have to say that the cubs, both Cheetah and Puma pack sung their hearts out.

It is always a lovely service conducted by Akela Derek and the 'gang' and this year with the starting of a new tradition of Mary & Joseph being passed around from family to family seemed to bring thing as always, a little closer to home at this time of year. 

The service was really well attended and the support of parents and siblings is always welcome and appreciated.

There were also three Cub Scout Silver Awards presented to cubs that have worked hard and achieved the necessary level of cub scouting that befits being presented with the Highest Badge obtainable.

It just leave us as leaders to say thank you to our ubs and parents for another great year of Scouting, fun and support. 

And as always a pat on the back for the leaders who without giving up their time, none of this would be possible.

Christmas Cub Camp

What a great weekend.... we hope your cub/s enjoyed it as much as the leaders. 

Despite the weather, which we thought was pretty kind considering what it could have been like it appeared that everyone has a great time. 

Duxford was great and entertained the cubs with interactive flight puzzles and games, not to mention the planes and the walk-through of Concorde.

The tank and land fighting  hangar also proved to be very popular together with a talk from one of the museum's staff on how Duxford was used in the Battle of Britain.

We got back to camp where our young leaders had prepared a Christmas 'Hunt the Reindeer' wide game before dinner, which was spaghetti bolognese with carrot cake & chocolate flack-jack for pudding. 

The traditional camp fire consisted of many popular songs before the cubs settled down to a viewing of the Nativity movie, projected onto the back of the mess tent. 

Hot chocolate ensured that they went to bed with warm tummies, and they all slept really well.

Bacon butties were the order for the morning, with an investiture and prayers before the cubs were collected.
